Teaching Illini to manage money before it manages them
A student-run organization built around one idea: financial literacy is a skill, not an instinct — and it's better learned early, with peers, than alone after graduation.
Educating aspiring investors, one fundamental at a time
The Illinois Personal Wealth Management Club exists to educate aspiring investors on the basic principles of investing and personal finance. We break down the topics that most students never get taught in a classroom — investing, credit cards, budgeting, and strategic investment timing — and turn them into practical, usable skills.
Whether you're opening your first brokerage account or just trying to build a budget that survives the semester, our programming meets you where you are.
Four pillars, every semester
Investing
Core principles behind stocks, funds, and long-term portfolio thinking.
Credit Cards
Building credit responsibly, without falling into the traps that hurt it.
Budgeting
Real frameworks for managing a student income and building saving habits.
Strategic Timing
Understanding market conditions and the discipline behind acting on them.
Where the lessons stop being hypothetical
Reading about the market and participating in it are different skills. Our student-managed micro-fund exists to close that gap — giving members hands-on, practical experience researching companies, discussing ideas, and following real portfolio decisions from the inside.
- Run by and for students — no professional fund managers involved
- A practical complement to the club's classroom-style programming
- Open to members who want deeper, hands-on involvement
